The Nevada Commission on Tourism, the Little A'le' Inn and the community of Rachel, Nevada invite you to participate in "The 'X' Rides" in celebration of the 11th anniversary of the dedication of Nevada's "Extraterrestrial Highway"-- Highway 375. The ET Highway runs north/south, north of the infamous "AREA 51," Nellis AFB Bombing & Gunnery Range and Tonopah Test Range, where sightings of UFO's have been reported. Whether you believe these sightings to be UFO's or secret government test aircraft, "The 'X' Rides" offers a fun and memorable weekend of bicycle riding in Nevada's wide-open spaces and skies. "The 'X' Rides" features two separate rides... A fun road bike "night ride" on the ET Highway and an adventurous off-road mountain bike ride to the AREA 51 security perimeter. Whether you ride a road bike or a mountain bike, “The ‘X‘ Rides” has a fun ride for you... of course all other types of bikes, tandems, HPV's, hover craft, saucers and cigar shaped flying objects are also welcome. Our host community of Rachel, Nevada, is located on the ET Highway approximately 190 miles northwest of Las Vegas via Hwy 93 to Hwy 375; or 110 miles southeast of Tonopah, via Hwy 6 to Hwy 375. Our ride headquarters is the Little A'Le' Inn Saturday - May 3: This is your opportunity to ride to the famous Mail Box denoting the roadway leading to AREA 51. This 40 mile round trip road bike tour departs Rachel at 6:30pm and offers a 700 foot climb over Coyote Summit (5,591') and a gradual 1,100 foot descent. The eerie silhouette of Joshua trees will stir your imagination as the sunsets. A fully stocked rest stop with food and beverage awaits you at the Mail Box along with Area 51 Handbook author, Chuck Clark, to answer your questions regarding this mysterious secret government facility. Night-riders will return to Rachel with headlights and rear reflectors, required. A pre-ride dinner buffet is included. ALIEN FEST In the spirit of having fun, this year’s event will feature a fun Pre-Ride Alien Fest… with an Alien Costume Contest, Light Up your Bike Contest & Special Prize for the Bicycle that most resembles a UFO. Activities will commence during the pre-ride dinner buffet in the Little A’Le Inn.
Sunday - May 4: Does AREA 51 exist? Here's your chance to find out with this off road mountain bike ride. Pre-registered riders will enjoy a great breakfast buffet before racking-up Mountain Bikes and car-pooling to the Mail Box at 8:15am for a 9am ride start time. The Route...
